Art students win Scholastic Awards
Presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the United States. Students who are taking art three through Ap art with Rachel Adams have been given the opportunity to participate in Scholastic art awards for 2023. Over the course of predominantly the first semester students produced high quality works that could potentially be included in their portfolios. Students were to create all works within a cohesive thought process backed by technical skill from beginning to end. The initial process of any piece begins with mind mapping- the act of simply pouring all creative thoughts down on one page to later shape into an art piece. Mind mapping can present in the form of both written words and sketches to later be translated into larger ideas. Of the students who participated in competition this year four received an honorable mention, five received a silver key award and two students received a gold key award. Congratulations to the following students!!
