Two months ago, Apple announced their new products such as the iPhone 13 and upgraded iPads. Last month Apple announced even more. On Oct. 18th Apple went live for their second event in a little over a month.
The event kicked off with an artist showcasing the sounds of Apple, mixing sounds like the Third Generation iMac starting sound and iPod scrolling noise transformed into an instrumental piece of music. The music continues into Tom Cook’s, CEO of Apple, introduction.
After Cook’s introduction, Apple Music had its time in the spotlight. Apple Music has over 90 million songs and 30 thousand playlists, all available with their new plan,
“With this new plan, use only your voice and the power of Siri to access every song, every playlist, and every station in Apple Music across all devices,” Zane Lowe said.
Next in the event was the third generation of AirPods. According to a survey of Yukon students, 48% of students use AirPods. Airpods third generation has a fresh design inside and out. The new design has an extended battery life with up to six hours of listening time, and the case will charge your AirPods in five minutes for an hour of listening time, all with spatial audio, a way to engulf you into your media.
“AirPods are one of the most popular music products we’ve ever created,” said Cook.
Lastly were Macs. Last year Apple announced their M1 chip, the first chip specifically built for Macs. This year they plan to top that by making a faster and more efficient clip: introducing the M1 Pro. A brand new chip for Macs, the M1 Pro delivers 200 gigabytes per second of memory bandwidth, meaning it can store data three times faster than the M1. It also gives a 70% quicker computer performance.
“M1 Pro is unlike anything else in a pro computer,” Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies Johny Srouji, said.
After the Macs Johny handed it back to Cook to end the event.
“Today, we focused on two areas very dear to us, music and the mac, and the creative spirit fueled by each of them,” Cook said.
