Warner Brothers Discovery held an hour-long event on April 12, 2023. This event set up the future for Warner Brothers Discovery. There was a ton of content set out for the fans to enjoy over the next couple of years.
First off, a new streaming service is on the horizon, and it is named Max. HBO Max and Discovery Plus have merged to create Max. HBO Max will be discontinued, but Discovery Plus will still be available at the same price points. Max will make its debut on May 23, 2023.
Max will have three different subscriptions available. The Ad-Lite plan is $9.99 a month which gives the user two concurrent streams and HD quality. The Ad-Free plan costs $15.99 and takes away ads and adds the opportunity to download shows and movies, with a limit of 30. The Ultimate plan costs $19.99 and gives the user 4K/HDR with Dolby Atmos streaming, 4 concurrent streams, and a limit of 100 downloads.
Warner Brothers Discovery also unveiled some content for the new service. One of these is a Harry Potter TV series, titled “Harry Potter.” This series will have a new cast playing the beloved characters, with each season being a book in the series.
“Rick & Morty,” a beloved Adult Swim TV show, is getting an anime later this year. There is not a lot of information on this show yet, aside from the announcement. Nothing is known as of now other than that it will be released this year on Max.
A new “Gremlins” show was also shown. “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai” is an animated show following Gizmo, from the original movies, with his new owner, Sam. This show premieres with Max, on May 23, 2023.
The first teaser of “The Penguin” was shown as well. This show will follow Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell) on his way to being one of the big bads of Gotham. This series is set to air in 2024.
This event from Warner Brothers Discovery left fans well-fed with a great deal of content to look forward to. This new streaming service is projected to bring great opportunities for the company in the coming years.
