Teachers can come from anywhere and do anything. Drew Barrett comes from Texas, and used to do commissioned art pieces around Oklahoma before becoming a teacher at Yukon.

This is Barrett’s first year teaching at Yukon. He teaches four hours of Beginner Art and Advanced Art. As a student he loved art and being creative, and art was his get away.
“It’s just something that I am thrilled with,” Barrett said.

Barrett was originally from Texas and studied art at the University of North Texas, but decided to move to Oklahoma to build his house. While building his house he sold commissioned art pieces around Oklahoma and went to South Western Oklahoma State University. During School he started student teaching in Yukon.
”I graduated last year from S.W.O.S.U. with a degree in art education, and I was lucky enough to student teach at Yukon,” Barrett said.

After school, Barrett decided to come back to Yukon, after his student teaching he fell in love with the high school.
“I knew I wanted to teach here. As soon as I stepped in the school, and met the students. It’s a great place and I’m so very happy to be here,” Barrett said
