The Softball team played Northwest Classen at home on Sept. 23 which was also their senior night. Yukon took an early lead and held out strong all night, winning with a run roll and a final score of 12-0. The team continues to challenge themselves everyday as they get closer and closer to state.

“The hardest part for me about being a senior is everyone reminding you ”it’s your last”and trying to push so hard to make sure it’s not your last,” senior Taylor McMahon said. “But it’s been so amazing.”

The starting seniors were Annalise Rayburn, Rylee Richy, Marlee Warden, Lydia Fuerstenau, and Taylor McMahon. The first quarter was played with a strong victory from Yukon 5-0.

“Being a senior is a big responsibility on and off the field and I really tried to set good examples,” senior Annalise Rayburn said.

Senior night is always a big game for volleyball teams, especially for the seniors. The team worked hard on staying focussed and not letting emotions overwhelm them, winning the second quarter with a score of 5-0.

“Our team’s biggest challenge so far was definitely hitting,” McMahon said. “Just being consistent and letting the ball travel to where we can do damage.”

The third quarter of the game Yukon pulled another win against Northwest classen with a winning score of 2-0.

“They have bonded together as a team, I see a lot of support for all age groups on that team,” Coach Michelle Ankrom said. “I’ve seen seniors high fiving freshmen, it doesn’t matter how old they are, they’re all one big unit which I think is a very positive thing.”

Yukon run rolled Northwest Classen bringing an early end to the game. Yukon won with a final score of 12-0 which was not only a victory for the team but an amazing night for the seniors. The team continues to work hard and move closer to state every day.

“The biggest goal I have is making it to state,” Rayburn said. “Of course it would be the cherry on top of the cake to win state but just making state is such an honor and I would really like to go this year.”
