Yukon’s “Christmas in the Park” has been a tradition for 25 years. Facilitating new additions every year, according to the Yukon’s Best website, Yukon has the largest drive-thru public park light display in Oklahoma.
With people coming from all over the state, Yukon continues to add new attractions such as an ice skating rink for their 25th anniversary. With three parks full of lights and other attractions, such as the Santa Express Train Station, there’s a lot to do at this annual Christmas bonanza.
The park opens the first weekend of Thanksgiving break and is opened through New Years Eve.
Yukon High School student Cheyenne Shilling and her friends Austynn Nicole and Kailain Parks went to the park to view the new displays and attractions.
“We had a great time, the lights were amazing,” Shilling said.
This is Yukon’s first year of having an ice skating rink, it’s just another attraction for friends and family to enjoy. General ice skating and skate rental is priced at $12, without rental it’s $8 per person. General admission and rental with a military ID is $10 and admission for children five and under cost $8 per child.
“The ice skating rink was amazing, it was packed with people but we had a great time,” Shilling said.
Another yearly attraction is the train that takes people all around Boot Hill park. The Santa Express train ride is $3 for everyone at the park.
“The train was amazing,” Shilling said. “They had hot chocolate and we got to ride all around the lights.”
With thousands of dollars in donations every year, new light displays continue to be added. Ice skating, train riding, hot chocolate and more continue to bring in people from around the state.
