After two years of nothing but delays due to COVID-19, Marvel Studios is finally back with a sitcom series on Disney+ starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany creating the number one TV show in the world called WandaVision directed by Matt Shakman. This show is something Marvel has done that is completely different and they have done an amazing job.
The show begins as a ‘50s inspired episode with a few funny comments and shenanigans, but as the episode goes on there is a sudden realization that everything is not what it seems. Shakman did an amazing job bringing these characters together and creating this show.
Wanda is portrayed by Olsen and Vision is portrayed by Bettany who both absolutely nail it. Most of the time in the episodes, people would almost forget they are watching a Marvel show. They would think that until they actually start mentioning events from the movies.
With nine episodes in the season, each episode is roughly 40-50 minutes long. Altogether it would take about six to seven and a half hours to watch. Like The Mandalorian, each episode was released every Friday except for the first two episodes, which released on the same day.
The characters are amazing in this show. The two main characters are obviously Wanda Maximoff and Vision and they are dynamic in this show. There are also a few new characters in the show who we have never seen before which is interesting. Returning characters we haven’t seen since 2018 also crop up. For example, in the trailer we saw Jimmy Woo, who was first seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Darcy Lewis from the Thor movies, except Ragnarok, also makes an appearance.
Overall, this was a great comeback from Marvel and a great way to start phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With a few more shows and movies coming to Disney+, this is a good way to begin this new era of entertainment for Marvel Studios.
