To commemorate Black History Month, minority student union and art students got together to plan and paint murals on the cafeteria glass panes to recognize black figures such as Ruby Bridges and Martin Luther King. “For Black History Month I think it’s important to recognize black figures and to uphold black voices. Not just for Black History Month but for every day. It’s really important to do things like this so that every person feels included, and feels represented,” said art student Keianna Taheri.

A symphony of sounds echo through the halls as the wind ensemble plays a variety of Christmas songs including "Sleigh Ride" and "A Christmas Festival" before second hour on the last day before semester finals. Students gathered in the rotunda to listen to the jolly tunes and watch the ensemble.

On Dec. 3, a ceremony for previous staff member Nancy Osterman was held at S160. The room next to S160 is named after Nancy and is dedicated to her. She was an avid seamstress and loved to sew. She had a huge impact on the community and contributed heavily to Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. The line of sewing machines shown above is used by Ms. Loupe's human growth and development students and has even created 120 burp clothes that were donated to the infant crisis center. "We wanted to honor her and Mrs. Barlow put together where we were able to kind of absorb the room next to mine, that was a small room, and we made it a sewing room," Ms. Loupe said. Also, next year, the room will be designated to a new elective called fashion design.

Yukon Wrestling fought valiantly against Mustang but came up short losing the duel. Freshman Hayden Wright showed some impressive skill with a great throw. "I wanted to get the crowd going so I went for a big throw," Wright said. "I felt like I needed to give us a good start because this was an important duel."

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) started in 1954 throughout many schools across the country where students are given the opportunity to build community with their fellow peers that have the same religious beliefs. "I love that I can come here and know that I have other people outside my church that are my age who share the same interest as me," senior Sophie Behrens said. "It really makes me happy to say I have made a lot of new friends that are good for me by just attending FCA."
